All Natural Rash Relief

My son came to me one morning pulling his diaper down and saying “ouch”.

He is not one to cry wolf, so I laid him down and gasped when I saw this nasty rash.

In the past, I used to to use Aquaphor for everything, but since I decided to go chemical free, I was sure there was a way to heal this naturally!

And I was right. I found applying my YL peppermint essential oil every hour did the trick. As you can see in the pic above, it started to clear within the first hour! Not only did it clear, but immediately my son was no longer in discomfort which is the most important thing to me.

This is what I enjoy most about the all natural, holistic, chemical free lifestyle. I love to experiment and trying new things. It’s fun for me, it’s something I enjoy and don’t mind doing. I’m ok with it taking a little longer, this lifestyle is all about patience. In the end I know that I’m making the safer, healthier choice for my kids.

The Dangers of Laundry Detergents

One of my biggest pieces of advice for families who are trying to switch to a chemical free and all natural lifestyle, is to take baby steps. Switch over one product at a time.

I’m in a hurry to live chemical free, but I am also very frugal and hate being wasteful. So the easiest way to transition is to finish up a product, then when it’s empty, find a safer, chemical free alternative. That’s how I switched soaps, serums, lotions, cleaning products and the everyday product I am now going to blog about… laundry detergent.

Have you ever researched what’s in our laundry detergent? Well I have and let me tell you, it ain’t good ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. It’s actually a shame. Let me list some ingredients found in most laundry detergents:

1,4 dioxane– a solvent that is recognized by the EPA as a carcinogen. It’s been known to cause headaches, vertigo, irritation of eyes, nose and lungs, can cause liver and kidney damage, etc.

Quaternium-15- a cleaning agent. Also known as a carcinogen. It’s been linked to eye and skin irritations and possible liver damage.

Phosphates/EDTA– make detergent more effective. Toxic ingredients that are harmful to the wildlife in our ponds and streams. They are also known to kill cells and damage DNA โ˜ ๏ธ.

These are just 3 of dozens of harmful chemicals found in laundry detergents. When I really stop and think about this, it really upsets me. I get angry because these ingredients can directly affect myself, my husband and most importantly my babies!

I obviously wash all our bed sheets, clothes, stuffed animals, blankets etc. with these harmful ingredients. The sheets we spend 8 hours sleeping on each night, the clothes that touch our skin every second of the day, the blankets I cover my sleeping boys with, could potentially be causing our health to suffer.

So what now? I’m glad you asked. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

There are many brands out there that are toxic chemical free. Do the research and make the safer choice. Remember to invest in your health. It might be costly to buy at the store, but it’s the best choice you can make for your family. Or try making your own.

For myself, I decided I wanted to try to make my own and I’m glad I did! It’s SUPER cheap and works really well. I made 2 gallons of detergent for less then $7. It’s just as effective and perfectly safe!

I did some searching on Pinterest for DIY laundry detergents and I found a recipe I really liked! I used

*Organic Washing Soda that I purchased on amazon for $10.

*Trader Joe’s baking soda

*Dr.Bronners Organic Castile soap

* YL essential oils (I chose lemongrass and spearmint)

It took me a whole 5 minutes to make! ๐Ÿ˜‚

That’s it. Baby steps are better then nothing when it comes to the chemical free lifestyle. If you need exact measurements for this recipe, let me know I will happily share that with you.

Also, feel free to ask for help or advice if you want more DIY ideas! I’d love to help โค๏ธ

Staying Oily in a 3rd World Country

I’m home!

The last 5 days, I was in a town called Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic, working at an orphanage there. This trip was my 7th time there and to say I love that town and the people there would be an understatement.

I highly recommend everyone take a missions trip at least once in their lifetime. I believe serving others should be done on a regular basis, and I encourage everyone to put a missions trip on your bucket lists! You won’t regret it!

I wanted to share how I maintained my oily, organic, chemical free lifestyle in a 3rd world country.

I had no idea how this was going to go. The last time I was there, I didn’t have the knowledge I do now and therefore didn’t care what I ate or put on my body.

I was nervous and excited at the same time, to see if I could make this lifestyle work. I have to honestly say, I am very proud at how well I did.

To start, I always get motion sickness on airplanes. I would take Dramamine before every flight. To get to where we were going, we take 2 flights!

I had no idea which oils I wanted to bring with me, so I brought them all just in case! ๐Ÿ˜‚ And I’m glad I did. I immediately got nauseous as the plane took off from O’Hare. I grabbed my peppermint essential oil and direct inhaled it 3 times. I applied some to bottom of my nose, temples and around my ears. I closed my eyes and just breathed. After a few minutes I felt completely fine. I was so thankful. I wanted to make sure I didn’t get nauseas again, so before every landing and take off, I did that same thing and it worked like a charm! That was huge win for me! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

A lot of the work we do there requires us to be in the grass, dirt and mud so another big problem I worried about was the bug spray. Where we were going, No-see-ums are a big problem. If you don’t know what those are, you are very lucky ๐Ÿ˜‚. They are basically super small insects that bite you and leave the itchiest red bump and are a huge pain in the butt! The only thing that has worked in the last for me was 99% Deet I would get from Bass Pro Shop.

Well this year, since I’m trying to be a chemical free as possible, I decided I would make my own “deet”. I did some research and decided I would use Lemongrass and Citronella essential oils along with some coconut oil and use that as my bug spray. Guess what? It worked!!! I had mixed it in a carry on spray bottle and reapplied every few hours or so! My legs are bite free! My essential oils worked just as well as the Deet and I couldn’t be more excited about that.

Eating organic is not as easy to do in Jarabacoa. When it came to eating, I brought a lot of my own snacks from home. Did I eat organic 100% of the time? No way! I had to pick and choose. Not to mention, to refuse a meal from these people who prepared it was considered rude. But I did the best I could and for that I am content. There were a lot of opportunities I could have caved, but I stayed strong. Speaking of picking a choosing…

One night I went into their “downtown” area with a friend of mine who is a local there. He was hungry, so we stopped at a small place so he could get something to eat. I had ate earlier so I wasn’t hungry, but he bought me a sandwich anyway. I have no idea what this sandwich was, I watched him make it and it looked like some kind of ham or thin meat that was fried and then a bunch of other ingredients placed on a bun. He handed it to me and I didn’t want to refuse his offer so I accepted and he watched as I took the first bite. I told him it was delicious and thanked him for his kindness but said I was full and didn’t want anymore.

As you can imagine, later that night I was laying in bed with stomach pains. I remembered I had brought my Digize oil and I quickly put a few drops on my stomach and rubbed it in. Within minutes I felt no discomfort and was able to fall asleep.

These are just my favorite examples of how thankful I was to have brought my oils. I, of coarse, used other oils during my time there, but was most impressed with the stories I just shared with you!

I hope to encourage you to try using oils as a replacement for your everyday go-to products. I think you will be surprised and glad you did!

Eliminating Eczema Naturally

This blog post is going to be short and sweet. I want to share with you how I treat my son’s eczema naturally…and yes, with my Young Living oils!!๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Rome has struggled with eczema since he was a baby and I have tried countless remedies. I tried different lotions, creams, using a humidifier, limiting his dairy intake, you name it, we tried it. Nothing seemed to help. I felt so bad for him. His cheeks would get so red and he just looked awful.

I noticed it would seem to flare up when he was starting to get sick too. Eczema can have different triggers and I noticed for Rome, it would get the absolute worst at the onset of a sickness.

One morning, I started to notice Rome’s cheeks getting red, but this time was different. I had my Young Living oil kit!

I quickly jumped on Pinterest and another site I check frequently to read people’s personal experiences with oils helping certain ailments. ( link below) to find some oil recipes I could try.

I grabbed an empty roller bottle and added:

-20 drops YL purification essential oil

-10 drops YL lavender

Filled the rest of the bottle with Avocado oil.

I applied it immediately to his cheeks. And within 3 hours, redness was gone! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

I was so pleased! I finally found something that worked! I don’t want to say I was surprised, but I kinda was. This was my first time being able to experiment with the powerful oils I had heard so much about. And they didn’t disappoint โ˜๐Ÿผ.

A few weeks later, wouldn’t you know, Rio woke up looking like a tomato๐Ÿ…. I grabbed my roller bottle which I labeled ‘skin rescue’ applied it to the redness and within hours, his skin was back to normal. โค๏ธ

This is why oils are my passion. This is just the beginning of my many amazing experiences with them. I can’t wait to share them all with you in future blog posts.

I desire for everyone to have these types of before and afters and to throw out their prescription creams and expensive lotions, go chemical free and see how Young Living essential oils can help you and your family!

Becoming an Oily Mom

It all started with a small bottle of grapefruit essential oil.

I had just given birth to my second baby and I had returned to work a few weeks later to take some clients before Easter. When I went to my station, I noticed someone had placed a 5ml Young Living Grapefruit Vitality essential oil. This was my first experience with essential oils.

I quickly found out my co worker had gifted me with this oil as she knew that I enjoyed my flavored water. It smelled amazing and I couldn’t wait to use it. She warned me that citrus oils needed to be used in a glass, not my plastic water bottle, so I had to wait till I got home to try it. Once I did, I loved it!! The smell was so uplifting. The taste was good too! I started researching the benefits of grapefruit essential oil and loved what I found. It can aid in weight loss ( which I needed after having my baby) , helps reduce cellulite, fluid retention, it’s high in d limonene, detoxes the body, metabolic stimulant and more! I began drinking it everyday. I even added some to my moisturizer.

I had never heard of Young Living before, so when I checked out their website I was a bit sticker shocked. Some of their oils were pretty expensive. I was glad to see that my grapefruit only cost $7.50. I could afford that one. It lasted me all summer, and I had used it everyday!

Being that I’m a huge Amazon shopper, I did what I always do, check Amazon for a cheaper alternative. And sure enough I found a few different brands of essential oils that I was willing to try. I purchased lavender and frankincense from 2 separate eo brands. Both brands got great ratings and claimed their oils are 100% pure therapeutic grade oils.

I was so excited to get my oils and start trying them out for different things. I had spent all my time on Pinterest, pinning so many different ways to use my oils.

First thing I did was diffuse lavender in Rio’s room at night. I had read diffusing this would help calm him and then hopefully he’d sleep better. Rio was the worst sleeper/ napper. He was up every 30 minutes for God knows what. He was just an irritable baby. Long story short, there was no change. I was disappointed, but kept using it because the smell was nice.

The time came when I was wanting to purchase another EO for my water. I had ran out of my grapefruit and was wanting to try the lemon EO this time. Again, I had read so many great things about this oil and it’s many uses. I went to a local vitamin store in search of some lemon essential oil. I was excited they had it in stock. As I read the label I noticed it stated not for internal use. I asked the sales lady, if I had read this right and she agreed with the label saying these oils weren’t for ingesting.

I was so bummed. It says 100% pure therapeutic grade oil, so why isn’t it for internal use?

I went home and started reading all about EOs and how they are not created equally. I learned that much like vitamins and supplements, the FDA doesn’t regulate EOs. So a company can legally label their essential oils as 100% pure as long as the bottle contains only 5% pure essential oil. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ That explained a lot. No wonder these oils I purchased in stores and on amazon don’t recommend ingesting.

***side note: I had spent well over $150 experimenting with different oil brands over this time period.***

My next door neighbor and her husband have been Young Living distributors for about 4 years now and are doing very well for themselves. I always see them at home with their kids doing things as a family and I always envied that.

I had them over for dinner one night and I had mentioned to her I was in desperate need of a lemon essential oil! What do I have to do to get my lemon??!! ๐Ÿ˜‚ She sent me her link after dinner and recommended I buy the starter kit (diffuser and 11 popular EOs ) so I could try their oils (lemon is included) and then get wholesale pricing. The only “problem” was that it cost $160.

It took me 2 weeks to justify spending that much on essential oils, being that I spent over that amount on my quest to find a cheaper alternative the whole summer. You should know, I’m a very frugal person โ˜๐Ÿผ.

Once I ordered my kit, I started looking into Young Living. They are the #1 consumer choice for essential oils. They have been around for 20 years. They own their own farms and have a ‘seed to seal’ promise which allows them to oversee the entire process of their oils being made. This allows them to guarantee true 100% pure essential oils.

Then I started to creep into the business side of Young Living. They made $1 Billion last year in sales. They are opening more distribution centers across America to keep up demand. They have a very generous compensation plan and I had nothing to lose.

My husband would encourage me all the time to start selling YL, but I never had the desire to sell. I am by no means a sales person, I don’t even push my clients to buy product at work ๐Ÿ˜ซ. The thought of selling makes me very uncomfortable. But then, my oils came!!

I was so excited to see my YL box on my front door step!

I opened it and started diffusing right away! ๐Ÿ˜ I was obsessed. These oils smelled way better then my cheaper ones. Some didn’t even smell similar! I started making roller bottles for the boys. ( I bought some roller bottles on amazon ahead of time). I made an immunity roller, sleepy time roller, skin rescue roller and RC roller. I was so excited. My kids were healthy at the time, so I didn’t feel the need to roll them up right away lol. But it was time for Rio’s nap!! I filled his diffuser with water and 5 drops of lavender. This will be the true test.
ole hours. I immediately text my husband. Of coarse, he thinks it’s a coincidence. Later that night, same thing. Rio slept all night! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Which means I slept all night! This was HUGE for me. I decided right then and there I needed to become a distributor, I wanted to help moms get some sleep, among other things. It’s been 6 months now and I still diffuse lavender and/or cedarwood in Rio’s room every nap and every night. Now it’s not always 100%. Certain things can disrupt his sleep and wake him up, but he no longer cries when he’s awake. He will lay there calmly and sometimes even fall asleep again. These oils worked a miracle for me. And I just want to spread the word. That oil quality matters 100%.

Selling these amazing oils have been a joy. I don’t see it as selling. I see it as sharing and educating. I talk about them so freely and people love to learn how the oils can help them. I get people who come to me, asking me about YL all the time, almost daily. Some follow through and some don’t and that’s ok. The money is nice and it helps pay the bills, but it’s not why I’m doing this. I have had tremendous success with using YL oils that I am going to be sharing with you all in the near future. But my passion is helping.

I use these oils for everything and I mean everything. I make my own baby soaps and shampoos, face soap, moisturizers, face serums. Oils have replaced my medicine cabinet, skin care and household cleaning products. It’s saves me so much money in the long run. And that excites me! That’s what drives me. I am passionate about this and I’m taking the time now to grow my business so that one day I can stay home with my kids for good, ease the burden on my husband, and be able to make my kids’ baseball games on Saturdays. And it’s all thanks to these essential oils.

If you have been on the fence about purchasing Young Living oils, I strongly encourage you to take the plunge. I’ve never had one person tell me they regret it. And I bet the same would be true of you! The one regret I do have is not trying it sooner. I will provide my link at the bottom of this blog for those willing to give it a try. You might have to copy and paste to URL bar.

If you are already a Young Living fan and/or are interested in starting your own business, I am always looking for genuine, passionate people to join my team. Feel free to reach out to me and I will walk you though the whole process. โค๏ธ

4 reasons I only buy organic.

So after making the choice not to vaccinate, I wondered what else I had been blinded to. What else have I deemed was safe but in reality wasn’t? What other norms did I grow up with that I wanted to put an end to? I found myself questioning everything. How could I trust anything after what I had just gone through? It was a very strange feeling, realizing I knew nothing. It was almost as if I had to erase 26 years of “knowledge” and start from scratch. Brainwashed is the best word I can use to describe that feeling. I knew I had to start somewhere, so I thought what better place to start then food? So that’s what I did.

There are many more factors as to why I choose to only buy organic, but for the sake of time I narrowed it down to my top 4.

1. GMOs

Genetically Modified Organisms. I had always been skeptical when it came to GMOs. Are they safe or not? Before when I would question this, I relied on our government’s reasoning and thought, well, if it’s good enough for the FDA then it’s good enough for me. HA! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Not anymore! Since I could no longer trust the government’s judgment, I had to do the research for myself. Here are a few major concerns I found:

1. GMOs are banned in at least 26 counties!

**This was huge for me. If it’s banned somewhere else, why wouldn’t it be banned here? ๐Ÿค”

2. GMOs are linked to organ damage, gastrointestinal issues and infertility to name a few.

3. GMOs increase the use of herbicide

**With GMOs being bred in a lab, they are created to be “herbicide tolerate”. Which means they need to be sprayed with a stronger chemical, which leads me right into my next topic. How convenient.

2. Herbicide

You may or may not have heard of the company Monsanto. They have been in the news lately for being such a controversial company. Monsanto is the leading producer of GMOs and the product Round Up. Yes, the same Round Up you probably have at home and use to kill the weeds. And it’s the same product being sprayed on our crops. It’s a great product for our front and back yards. But is it safe to consume? The FDA would tell you…Yes!! Shocker!! But here is my issue, the product Round Up contains the ingredient Glyphosate which is a known carcinogen. I don’t want to eat that, let alone feed it to my children. Again, we are being told something is safe when it is clearly not.

3. Supporting Like Minded Companies

This is one of my favorite reasons. I love being around people who are like minded. I get so excited when I meet other moms with my same interests. It’s a nice feeling. I like to apply that feeling to this topic. I once read, your dollar is your vote , so make it count. I loved that! It’s so true! I work hard for my money, I don’t want to spend it frivolously. I want my hard earned money to support my cause. The organic cause! Each item I purchased that wasn’t organic was, in my mind, me agreeing with the whole corrupt process. I would be saying Yes!! to GMOs, herbicides, artificial hormones, artificial colors and flavors. And I didn’t want to do that. I want my vote to count!

4. Invest In Your Health

Don’t cheat yourself. You are worth it. Your family is worth it. Invest in yourself and in them! And whenever I have a moment of weakness, or question can I afford this? I look at my kids, and I remember why I’m doing all of this. Their health is my first priority. Feeding them toxins and artificial ingredients and preservatives is simply not ok with me. I want to feed them food. Real food! Food their bodies can use for fuel and nutrients. Invest in your health! You will be so glad you did.

Now, I realize buying/ eating organic is very expensive. That is why I didn’t switch for the longest time. But I did what I could. I started slow. I started buying organic meat and dairy. And that’s all I could handle for a while. Then I started buying organic fruits and veggies. Then everything else eventually followed. I am a HUGE fan of Trader Joe’s. They have great quality food items and it doesn’t break the bank to buy organic. I go every week and spend around $70-$80 for our family of 4. ( Rio is still on baby food, so really there is only 3 of us that eat the groceries.) Amazon is another great place to purchase organic food. I also love Aldi! I buy Rio’s 4 oz organic purรฉe pouches there for .79 cents !! It doesn’t get better then that!

I encourage you to do your research, start small, shop around and see for yourself how making better/ healthier choices can positively influence your family!!

My view on vaccines II

Part 2: Before I continue with my story, I want to remind everyone that it is exactly that, my story. I am not interested in debating, rude comments and I’m not trying to persuade you one way or another. I am not going to provide links to all my sources, frankly, that takes too much time and I am not that computer savy yet anyways. I encourage you to do your own research and find your own reliable sources. I can promise you, sending rude comments are of waste of your time, I know my worth and what you may think of me doesn’t change that. Ok good.
